Tire Pressure Low light keeps turning on for no reason...

I have a 2007 Mini Cooper and we drove it with no problems for about 4000 miles in the summer and then all of a sudden the Tire Pressure Icon came on on my dashboard. I sent it to the dealership and all they did was reset the sensor and sent me off. Everything was fine for a few months and then the light came on again. As of recently, I reset it pretty much every time I drive my car. Thing is, the first few times it turned on, the icon was just an orange color...now its bright red. And resetting it only lasts as long as I leave the car on.

I've heard that drastic temp changes can cause the sensors to go crazy but summer was 95-99 at the highest and right now its only 80.

Any suggestions as to what I should do before I send it in to the dealership???

It sounds like a fault in the system. Have you actually checked the air pressure in the tires?

Yeah I've checked the tire pressure and it seems just fine. And there's no drop in any of them...

I think that the only thing that you can do is go back to the dealer. If you check the pressure and they are up to spec, and you reset the sensors, and they still go off, leave it on and take it to the dealer, it might be that one of your sensors is going bad, the dealer can check the"fault" codes to identify the problem.

Yeah I really wanted to avoid doing that seeing as I'm on spring break and have a friend over but I'll definitely see what I can do. And I'd like to avoid them trying to trick me out of my money cuz once they see I'm a girl they assume I don't know anything and I'd like to at least be able to explain the problem properly.

Thanks for the help!

Not to worry about them trying to trick you out of any money, it would definitely be under warranty. Not ta worry!

Back when the indication was only lighting up in yellow, it wasn't warning you of a flat tire, it was warning you that there was something wrong with the tire pressure monitoring system itself. The red indicator is for when you actually have a flat tire.

The dealer who reset the system was probably just hoping the reset would fix the problem, but it's time to go back.
