Horn Goes Off Randomly

I had my new JCW steering wheel installed last week. About three days later (when it got cold again) my horn started to go off out of no where, mostly during turns. When it goes off it continues to blow until I hit the middle of the steering wheel. If I try, I can also get it to stick in the on position. You can imagine this is annoying and potentially unsafe, but last night it blew at 3:30 in the morning until I ran out and hit the center of the wheel again.

I am bringing it by the dealer tomorrow, but cannot have it randomly going off while the car is unattended. Anyone have a similar experience or can suggest how to disable just the horn temporarily?

I'm willing to bet that there's a fuse for the horn. Pull it. Maybe?

haha! I've never heard of a MINI doing that, only Jeeps The dealer should take care of everything if you don't want to mess with the fuses. Don't drive with that fuse out, since you won't be able to blow the horn if there's danger. Let us know what the dealer says.

Edit: actually, you might be tugging on some wires when you turn the steering wheel if it wasn't installed properly, but that still doesn't explain it going off at 3 AM. Who installed the steering wheel?

I will pull the fuse tonight to avoid last night's wake up call. The dealer did the install. Too bad i gave them high marks on the survey already.

Got the car back today. Evidently there is a ground wire of some sort that had become loose. They reattached it. They also replaced a wire in the seat heater assembly that sent too much current to the heater, thus roasting my buns. Everything looks good for now. Maybe my neighbors won't throw stones when I pull out of the drive now in the early AM.
