Thermostat seal identification

I am putting a new expansion tank and thermostat with seal in my 03 Cooper S to try and solve the disappearing coolant issue. What does the thermostat seal look like? The Bentley looks like a figure eight of sorts. The seal I got with my Autozone thermostat is just round and surrounds the thermostat only. I know I need to do the housing seal also. I just don't want to get the whole thing out and find I have the wrong one.
Thanks
Mike

The figure 8 style is correct(number 5)...

...you need the small part of the "8" to seal the hose nipple that's molded into the side
of the thermostat housing(number 4).

Thanks for the pic. Seems my thermostat is going back to autozone. Can you get the correct set up for me? I noticed your ID is parts man. I'm 2.5hrs from a stealer so I order all my parts on line most of time.

Sorry I took so long to reply...I can get you the correct thermostat/gasket, if you haven't ordered one already.
