Battery light on and Power steering doesn't work????
I have replaced the alternator and had the battery tested ok. 11.8 volts @ the battery with car running or not. That is why i replaced the alternator. Reassembled car and started with the same problem. Battey light on and no power steering. Any help?

 

Voltage regulator?

 

No mention of voltage regulator in shop manual

 

Alternator belt snapped. Don't drive, no water cooling either.

 

no not anythig easy like that. I have replaced the alternator and the supercharger while i was in there. New belt new Alternator. Battery has been tested @ the auto parts store, Battery OK!

 

check my other post on the chat..... Sounds to me like your crank pulley may have seperated. I would definitely check that out

 

The battery should read 13.2 volts (2.2 volts per cell) not 11.8 and should not be the same running and not.

Have someone else test the battery.

Yeah, anything under 12.5 with the car off and the battery is on it's way out. A new battery will read 12.8-13V. With the car on, it should be closer to 14V.

 

found the problem! The rebuilt alternator was bad from the vendor.
