O2 Oxygen Sensor Help please

My 02/cooper throws fault P0136, changed pre cat sensor with a new one,now have faults P0036 and P0136,searched the forums and found that P0136 refers to downstream post cat sensor so installed the sensor that was removed from the precat position, faults P0036 and P0136 still show after driving quite a bit yesterday. Will these faults be dropped by the ECU in time,or do i have to take it in and have them cleared.I only have a mini mania obd code reader. Thanks Peter

Since it's a no signal code and not a lean/rich code, I don't know it'd be dropped with driving cycles...You could always go to your local part store, many of them will clear them.

The downstream sensor is staying lean, could be an exhaust leak close to the sensor or resistance in the connector or wires; will also happen if the feed gasses going into the cat is lean! but not likely since there is no lean codes from the front sensor. Look at fuel trims in scan data, if the numbers are positive the ECU is compensating for a lean condition.

Thanks Frenchie, believe you me would i do an install without deisel spray followed by air hose and finished by corossion X the conection is fine and had no funny stuff in the connector to start with so i'll have to check for a leak,i have a contact who has a obd with more capability than mine,he reset my airbag light,so thanks for that as well Chadtoolio. Will post findings
