My '08 Clubman driver's side window is acting up. 1-touch-down works fine but 1-touch-up doesn't work at all. When I open the door the 1/4" auto-down works fine but, when I close the door, the auto-up doesn't work, leaving the window cracked by 1/2". This seems a bit different than other's problems...

Well my driver window just went wacky for the first time since December. I had been in multiple times within a few weeks (fortunately I live 10 minutes away!) back in December and they finally replaced the motor. Everything has been since but on the 4th of July, my window hit the top and came back down halfway. It took me forever to get it back up to the point where it was "shut". I brought it in and apparently they are not "just re-programming" it now but swapping out the foot module as well as a more in depth re-program. When I questioned the "new" repair being done, he said its "because everything being done in the past obviously wasn't fixing the problem" Ya think? At least MINI is recognizing that this is a reoccuring issue for most owners. As for my window, so far so good....keeping the fingers crossed.

This however did not fix my driver's window. I guess I need to take it in to see what is up...
I'm having the same issue now with only my driver's side (2008 MC). I called my dealership and he suggested holding both windows down, waiting 10 seconds - that didn't solve it. I just tried the above and that didn't work, even with the car running.

I'm also having an issue with the sunroofs starting to open, then shutting immediately. Looks like I'll be bringing it in to the dealer soon.

I believe that, in the U.K. there's a requirement that all vehicles have intermittent electrical issues of unknown origin.

They have a very strong sense of tradition, and apparently it's being carried forward even when assembling a German engineered car.

MINI's Electrical Problems

It's all caused by the dreaded Lucas Trolls lurking under every bridge in GB.

Would like to report that I had my MINI in to fix this problem a month ago. The windows did not dip and they did not open and close properly. The windows had rolled themselves down in the middle of a blizzard last winter and as soon as it was safe to make the 350 mile road trip without fear of avalanches in mountain passes, I scheduled an appointment and went. The dealership replaced the footwell motors and reprogrammed the OBC. One month ago immediately after the repair, everything worked fine and then yesterday I went to hit the quick open on my fob and the driver's side window did not drop all the way, the passenger side window DID drop all the way and the sunroof did not open.

After the hell that I went through at the dealership to get this fixed the first time... I just don't want to go through this again.

Do you think this is related to the same issue or could it be that my fob is just... I dunno on glue or something. (Please tell me that it's just my fob and that I need to swap out! I really do not wanna go back to the dealership... those guys were such... jerks.)

Thanks!

RG if you have Comfort Access...when was the last time you changed the Battery in your Key FOB(s)?? This may or may not help, but it's worth a try. Molly had the Re-Flash done quite a while ago, I told the SA at the time..."we'll be back" 'cause I had read all the posts on "other" fixes, and I was sure that what he had the Tech. do would NOT fix Molly, but so far so good.

the hacknitions working on your cars suck the sim is updated and the fix involves componets to be replaced and connections to be check along with programming...... so tell them to rise above their suckage and read a sim more than one time....

I guess I am the latest to have this problem. My 7 month old (4100 mile) MC drivers side door started having problems today when I went to close after it is fully open. On one touch close it does the bounce to about half way down problem. The only way to close is to hold the switch until it closes (then it drops about 1/2 inch), release, and then up again. No dip on opening anymore.

From what I read, the only fix is reprogramming at the Dealer, right? The dealer in my case is about 140 miles away though.

Sorry Mbd, yes the only fix seems to be a trip to the dealer. You can try the hold the switch up for a few seconds, then down for a few seconds, and see if this helps. But yours are doing exactly what my Driver's Window did and the only fix was the re-programming.

140 is nothing.. That's a day trip. I have to plan to spend a weekend at my dealer (350 miles away) when I go. I say schedule the appointment for a weekend and go!

Sorry you don't have Comfort Access RG.

Also sorry about your Dealer Commute. I am 16.25mi. from Home to Rasmussen, I work 2.35mi. from Rasmussen, Hubby works 2.02mi. from Rasmussen. I don't know if we would have seriously considered buying a MINI if a Dealer had not been in the Local Area. But we did buy Molly as our Commute Car so you can see we really lucked out. I drive us to my work, Hubby takes Molly to work, then comes and picks me up and I drive us Home. Our Daily Commute is roughly 40 miles Round Trip, so Fuel Economy was key when decided on our next vehicle.

When I had the same problem I would use the "fix" mentioned here on NAM; you roll the window all the way down holding the switch and hold the switch down for about 15 seconds after the window reaches the bottom, then roll the window up and hold the switch for another 15 seconds, repeat if you like. This always "reset" my window and after about the 3rd time it happened it was fixed for good.

I tried this again and no change. When I roll up holding the switch, it goes to the top and drops about 1/2 inch. That is where I hold it for 15 seconds. If I let off the switch and then up again, it is all the way up (no gap), but makes a clicking noise if I hold on the switch. I am assuming the 15 seconds up is with the gap and not with the clicking noise. Is that correct?

Mine never made a clicking sound and would go all the way to the top and bottom. I guess you really have a problem only the dealer can resolve

Hello all. I think I might be joining the window dipper sensor issue.

As usual, I parked and locked my JCW on the street next to my house when I returned home last night. This morning, when I took my son outside to head for school, I noticed that the driver's side, passenger side windows were both open, and both front and back sky windows were open.

The alarm was still "on" ( I found out by sticking my hand in the open window), and nothing (as far as I can tell) had been stolen.

Sounds similar, but not the same as the issues listed above.

I have a 2009 JCW hardtop. I've had it for 10 months and have a little over 5000 mi. on it. Yes, it was a little cooler last night after a long, hot Summer. Hmmm...

BACK to the Dealer...AND I'm NOT Happy!!

[quote=RJKimbell;2739825Her Passenger Window is doing the 'No Window Dipper and Rolling Half Way Down', I discussed the issue with my SA, he simply said that a Re-initializing needs to be donw and that new software is available. I let him know that most people are having the motor replaced and that has fixed the problem. I made sure to let him know that we WILL be back. My Husband even thought we were going to go some rounds, the SA and I??!! [/quote]

This last post was on 4/19...Today my Driver's Window decided to NOT work, it goes down fine, but NOT up, the switch even refused to work some times. I will be calling my SA in the AM and schedule an appointment ASAP.

I absolutelty knew that the "Re-initialization" was NOT going to work, I don't know what the new FIX is going to be, but I'm going to let my SA know that I AM NOT HAPPY!!
I will keep you all updated on how things turn out.

Hubby scheduled an appointment for the 25th, he will be taking her in, after he drops me off at work that day. SA seems to think that we missed the Updated Re-initialization, which I tried to explain to my STUPID SA (not who I usually deal with), that even with "re-initializing" people were still having problems...we shall S@@!!

How many people does it take to report a problem before MINI USA gives a damn and comes up with a permanent fix for the thing?

Good Christ...

I'll keep that in mind when I talk to my SA tomorrow, going to call and smooth things over. I just want to let her know that I'm not angry at her, just the LOUSY SA who doesn't know his A## from a Hole in the Ground!! I was only able to leave her a message, my cell phone had died so I had hubby call to schedule the appt. since he will be the one who takes Molly in.

I had to argue with him, and flat out told him that I'd be back for another fix, because I knew that they couldn't have the cuurent version so soon. That's what I'm angry about.

I still L@VE my Molly Car, she knows I'm not mad at her either, just the situation!!

I called my SA today, I let her know about the "other" SA and that I ddin't want to deal with him anymore, she said "OK"!! I mentioned the Footwell Module, she noted that is was the computer that ran the windows and if it is below resistance (I think that's the term she used), it will cause a fault that the Tech. will see and the unit will be replaced. She also noted, just like I said, we just missed that latest "re-initialization" update, I told her I knew that and tried to explain that to the "other" SA, before I told him we'd be back for ANOTHER window fix!!

All is good in the world and Molly will be all better soon!!

Had my foot module replaced (after 2 or 3 failed software updates), and I still have the issue. It's only happened two or 3 times in the last couple months (MUCH better than before), but the issue persists nonetheless...

I'm bringing this up when I take have them replace one of my rear speakers (for the 2nd time).
Stay tuned...
