Door Squeak

Both of my doors squeak when opened or closed. It seems to be coming from the little notched part that catches the door and holds it in place as you step in/out. I tried some silicone spray...not much luck there. Has anyone ever tried grease before? (The stuff you use to pack wheel bearings and whatnot.) Will it hurt to try? I'm not sure what's all up in there. It looks like they may have been greased before though.

I had that problem after a few months of ownership. I had the dealer take care of it.

In the Bentley manual, on page 020-32, is says to lubricate body and door hinges with SAE 30 or SAE 40 engine oil.

Thank you. I guess I'll start with the motor oil. See if that works and go from there. Silicone spray didn't do anything...which surprised me. To be honest, I don't even think about it. I suppose I've gotten used to it. I was at my parents', and my dad said something about it. He's like, "Man, you need to take care of that." HaHa.

You may have to remove the door brake and lubricate the two cylindrical rollers with machine oil.
