Need to replace radiator..what options do I have?

So...I had some recent overheating problems in my 02 MCS. I've fixed them, but now Im losing coolant bad due to a cracked radiator. What are the best options for a replacement radiator as far as where to find one?

I'll be doing the install myself, I just need the rad. I've found one @ carparts.com for 200 shipped. Anything else?

Hi Agile,
Did you replace the rad? If you have, please tell me if it was horribly hard and do I need a dealer to do it? Thanks.

I'm interested in this as well... I noticed my coolant level is constantly dropping so I figure I have a leak somewhere. Anyone know how to find that leak? I figure I'll have to replace the radiator or possibly a hose from the resevoir or something

Leaking coolant

I got my car fixed. It was leaking coolant all the time. When I took it to my mechanic (non-Mini), he could not find the leak so I took it to the dealer. It turned out to be a bad thermostat (who knows where the coolant was leaking from). Anyway, the dealer changed it under warranty and said that this newer thermostat was better than the older version. I have a 2005 MCS.

I hope this helps.

Hey GCM! As Maxy said, check the thermostat first (and the coolant tank second) for leaks. Much more likely than the radiator.

Your local Autozone should have a coolant system pressure tester that it will rent (for free). Use this before wasting money on parts that might or might not be necessary. This will help identify where the leak is coming from.

btw PWR radiators are excellent. The price on the minimania rad is scary

Yes, our radiator is pricey - thanks to the current exchange rates with the UK...

If you go with PWR, make sure it's the Cooper S version - they make good products.
