i have an 06 cooper and it seams like in the last few months the sunroof has suddenly started slowing down during opening and closing . Its not the heat issue that the 2nd gens are having, its not very hot out here... 58-86 f for the last several weeks. the problem is pretty much constant... its like it takes twice as long for it to finish running. also, every once in a while, it will stop while closing, and sometimes reopen...
has anyone had any issues like this - im gonna call the dealer soon, i need new breaks too, so ill fix both issues at the same time

 

Had the same issue with my 05. Just had it fixed yesterday. They clean out the tracks and lube it up nicely. Now its super fast. Hope that helps.

 

ditto that. clean the rails out, spray some WD-40 in there.
