Possible cure for melting hood scoop!!!

Not sure if this will work but while I was getting my Stage I kit installed, I mentioned to my SA that my hood scoop was melting.

The problem is there is no cure right now.... the only thing they can do is replace the scoop with a new one.

The problem with that is the new one isn't made from anything different than the old one. A member on here mentioned he was getting a new scoop but after checking with several sources, apparently it's just an exact replacement.

Anywaaaaay.... Since the JCW scoop is made from carbon fiber, I asked if they would replace the scoop under warranty and allow me to pay the difference. The way I figure it is it's going to cost Mini "X" amount of dollars for the stock one anyway.

I'll let ya'll know once I find out for sure.

It is a resin, not a fiber issue. They may be using a different resin on the JCW and it may help. Let us know please.

Just letting everyone know that I received an email from the dealership saying it would be okay for me to pay the difference between the JCW scoop and the stock scoop.

Unfortunately the JCW scoop is on backorder but at least when it does come in, I'll be able to swap it out.

I'll say.... the dealership offered to replace it. I didn't see any point if you're going to replace it with the same defective plastic.

Anyways, as soon as the JCW scoops arrive back in stock, I'll have them send me one to paint and I'll install it. They can keep the labor and paint time.

There's a growing body of evidence that suggests the resin used in the CF scoops is more heat tolerant than the plastic. Unfortunatly, this all came to light just as the order went in to replace my car's scoop AND I paid $200 for a heat shield. Oh well, I know what to do if it happens again.
