Clicking at idle

When i am sitting at idle there is a loud clicking coming from the engine. I have isolated the sound to the left side of the engine over near the pulley's. Isn't the super charger pulley because you can put your ear up to that one and hes just spinning nice and quiet. Not sure what it is anyone maybe know??

Noise still persists. The noise is louder when the a/c is in the on position. Also when its off it just sounds normal like the pulleys are spinning around and the belts traveling along them.

Year and mileage on the car? Has your accessory belt/serpentine belt been changed out?

I have the same on my 04 S 104k miles, but I dont think its that loud. After my last oil change it seems to have gotten lighter. Its almost like valve tapping on those old chrysler v8's. I'm going to replace my belt here in the next week or so hopefully its just that. I'm curious if I should replace the whole tensioner system as well.

Have you bring it to the dealer?

It could be the timing chain tensioner. It's a pain to get to, but not so bad you'd have to send it to the dealer if you have the time and a few tools (including a torque wrench).

Took it to the dealership today... Got a call while im here at school and was told that i was the belt, and that it was all cracked up and needed to be replaced. Car has 35000 miles and is an 05 seems kinda odd that it would need to be replaced this early. Then he tells me that my matinance plan has expired and that I'll have to pay for it to be fixed. But when the car was purchased new the previous owner bought a matinance plan that extended it out to the 4-50 with the car. So will let you know how everything turns out this evening when i get it back.

Check your belt tensioner for oil leeks too. They fail quite often (personal experience)

Just got back from picking my car up at the dealership. Everything whent well. I totally forgot that i had the pully reduction lol and it was the belt that was causing so much clicking. It was so old and dry and cracked, he kept it for me to see. They put a nice new fresh belt on. It was the original belt that the previous owner of my car had put on with the pully from his 03! So it definetly had some miles on it. Glad its fixed though.
