Clubman Speakers
Wow!
I'm feeling lame for ordering the upgraded HIFI speakers. I hope I am wrong, but it sounds like [no punn intended] I will be changing them out once my Mellow Yellow arrives.....
If anyone successfully makes a solid switch with solid results, post the steps.....thanks.

The Clubdoor side is half-hour-ish (once I discovered the "secret" screw down by the grab-handle - look from below and behind, IIRC; and the screw in the B-pillar trim by the mood light).
The other side was 2-3 times as long, but nothing like the Coupe descriptions that suggest Mini suspended a speaker in the air and welded a car around it

Also, for anyone who cares, the Hertz 6.5" speakers that I installed up front have 92db sensitivity. They are probably more sensitive than the OEM speakers which may explain why it seems like, even with the bass turned all the way down, the front speakers are noticeably louder and clearer than the larger stock 6 x 9's in the rear.
Okay, I understand, but...
I'm not tone deaf, and I'm a music fan. I've got a really good home stereo system. I may be in the minority, but I'm not unhappy with the HiFi speakers. Could they be better? Sure. But given that the standard speakers aren't much, and that I didn't have to do the work to put these in, and given that upgrading the head unit is a major project, I feel like the part of the Premium Package that went to the speaker upgrade was worth it for me. So, if you're not preoccupied with specifications, and you understand what the limitation of stereo is in this car (background noise, wind, and road noise), I don't think you'll be crestfallen or that you're lame for going for that upgrade.
YMMV.

coolvinny,
Pulling the rear seat-bottom (it's all one piece) was step one. I didn't make notes, but it was more of the snap fasteners, popping enough of them loose to pry the panel back until there was just enough room to work.

Thanks austex. I might tackle this along with the channel swap tomorrow, assuming I can find some reasonably-priced 6x9's to put in there. Previous posters in other threads were right...once you have upgraded the front's and you do a head-to-head comparison between the new fronts and the stock rears, it's hard to live with the stock rears. Though I might do the channel swap first and see if that helps enough to live with. I'll report back. Also, for those scared of swapping the fronts because it might take up a day's work, there's also the obvious option of just paying a reputable car stereo place to do it for you. I paid for 1.5 hours of labour...a little over $100...and well worth it to be able to save myself a day's work - particularly since it's work I suck at.
I went to the dealer to listen to the same song with upgrade vs. standard stereo
The upgrade sounded better however comparing our 05 Mustang 1000 Shaker; 03 Jetta Monsoon and the Mini 10 Speaker upgrade the Jetta has the most crisp / bass sound
All a round it's okay but not outstanding
