Although I don't have the car anymore, I would like to know (just out of curiosity), is it just me or the paint on new Mini's is not the same as other cars like say honda or even a BMW?

When I drove my car, at least one or two bugs stuck on the hood or nose, would leave an etching and I would have to use scratchx to remove it. In my civic, I just had to use the turtle bug remover and there would be no etching. I also removed bugs from my neigbor's new honda CRV just as he was getting ready to wax, it came off pretty easily with no etching or anything. And his paint is dark too (My civic was silver but still the etchings on my Mini were pretty visible - i must add - to people who are **** like me).

Is it because most of the other cars have metallic paint and mini doesn't? Anyone have any information on this ?

 

It can be quite buggy in the desert, we have had no issues removing bugs. I think a good waxing helps too.

 

I've noticed that the paint on my '04 seems a lot "softer" and more prone to minor scratches than the other vehicle's I have (and have had).

Fortunately, it doesn't take a whole lot with a PC to get those scratches polished out and the paint looking like new.

But yeah, it is kind of annoying how easy it is to mar the paint on our cars...
