Chrome Bonnet Scoop - wrinkling
Chrome Bonnet Scoop - wrinkling
I've had a Chrome Bonnet Scoop for approximately one year. I had it dealer installed and such but I've noticed that the chrome is starting to detach and wrinkle. The thing is starting to look a bit like aluminum foil. Anyone else experiencing this?
it prob has nothing to do with it being chrome but the fact that it sits right above the turbo....
it seems that a lot of mcs owners are having trouble with their hoodscoop melting... unfortunately the only thing i can say is join the club... have the dealer replace it for you... that is what i just did

Yeah, I would agree with Pillar, sounds like the heat is tearing it up. I've already had my hood scoop replaced due to melting and I only have 2k miles on it. I'm sure the new one is gonna go too.
Update: Just wanted to add that my scoop also has the vent holes in it and it hasn't helped (well, probably would have been melted at 1k miles instead of 2k miles)

do you have the new scoop grills that have holes in them? I think that was MINIs way of helping with the heating problem. when you get your chrome scoop replaced I would ask if they can give you the new grill piece too
