My 05 convertible mini glove compartment latch fell apart and I'm 400 miles out of warrenty :-(

The dealer wants roughly 280.00 to fix it by replacing the glove compartment.I'd rather buy the part and do it myself, but I can't find where to buy one !I went to http://www.realoem.com/ to find the part number, but the site is not up. A search of pelicanparts.com comes up empty also.

Does anyone know the OEM part number and where I can buy one ?
( Mine is black BTW... ) Are there any other fixes ? I searched this forum and
read that you can take them apart, but the links that I found were no longer avalable. Pictures would be great.
