Sharp jolts when decelerating...why?

I have a 2006 MCS with automatic transmission and occasionally when I decelerate, as when approaching a stop sign, there will be successive, sharp jolts as the speed decreases. Usually this occurs at perhaps 20-30 mph. Has anyone else experienced this problem, and if so, are you aware of the cause. I have yet to bring it to the attention of the service manager but I'm becoming more and more concerned about the situation. Thanks for anyones thoughts.

May be its the normal downshifting of gears. Did you check the rpm everytime you get the jolt? Do they increase with each jolt and then go back to normal?
