Engine Not smooth?

Engine Not smooth?
I've been driving the new Cooper for 5 days now.
And this is my first manual car.
I've notice that, whenever I release the gas, the car decelerate so fast..... like a hump or something.
Whenever I add gas back the car humps.....
Does it do with my bad driving habit?
Or is this normal?
Also, this afternoon, when I start my car, the car at idle, doesn't rev constant. It fluctuate up and down, like...+-100rpm....
Is this is problem of my car or it's common throughout the mini?

Maybe you've got the same problem that is plagueing my car. It seems in all BMW/Peugeot's cost cutting wisdom they decided to make a lower timing gear assembly that has no key, flats or dowel pin to hold the gear in place. They simply use bolt pressure, this is fine for an A to B engine but not a performance oriented motor like the (the "Prince" engine BMW/Peugeot codename). The problem is on a hard downshift and any inadvertantly jerky drivetrain movement could cause the main gear to slip. If it slips enough you've got a runined head and if it slips a little you end up with what I've got. Strange idle, weird sound from the turbo and an engine that wants to stall if you pop the throttle and then let it try to go back to idle. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else beause I'm sure the dealers will say its from abuse and you may be out an engine or waiting for almost 30 days for your car to be fixed like me!

From what I can tell what you're experiencing is normal for a manual, you're just used to driving automatics, which have torque converters which smooths out those "humps".
Over time as you get used to standard you will become a lot smoother so those humps will become a lot less prevalent. Practice, practice, practice...
haven't noticed much fluctuation at idle...

Driving Manual is just fun!
Speed controling, but I realize making the up shift changing is rough if I don't rev match.
I rev match so that the car upshift more smoothly.
I feel whenever the car upshift, the trasnmission has to match hard to the speed. So I rev match.... but it ain't easy...
