Interesting Sound, from the cooling system?
Every once in a while on these warmer days I have been hearing an interesting sound that comes and goes. Its hard to describe but is what I would imagine the sound of fast moving water or steam through partially blocked piping. Sort of a high pitch sound which lasts for 10-15 seconds (not a constant volume or pitch) and then disappears. I guess something that sounds like when you turn an out door spicket on 1/4 to half way... Bad descriptions I know...
Any thoughts as to what this may be? My car is a 2003 MCS with 56,6xx miles. Coolant was last changed in 11/07 at 47,600 miles. Last oil changes were 47,600 and recently at 55,000 miles.
At first I thought it could be the belt but it does not sound like a squealing belt. I had the belt changed when I had the 15% pulley installed @ 39,300 miles.
Thanks,
k

LOL, K, we've got the same issue. Mine has been more persistent lately, and I have no clue what it is...
The only way to describe it is that it sounds like I put my car on the river and I'm floating downstream...
then suddenly it stops (I must have hit dry land at that point).
Another sound that I'm coming across is when letting the clutch out (not every time) it sounds like a semi is coming to a stop (brakes screeching). This is intermittent as well....
More info**
2003 MCS 113,000 miles.
Brand new belt
water sound is coming from underneath the dash/firewall area (middle of the car)...
