Hi guys,

In need of new drive shafts so just wanted to ask, is there a difference between the drive shafts in an early 05 R53 and a late 05 R53 (both manual)?

Reason I ask is from my understanding, the gearbox is different in the later R53s (Hollinger I believe).

Also, in your experience would it be worth while picking up a pair from the wrecker? (provided the CVs are in good shape of course) or am I better off getting new ones?

The part numbers appear to be the same for all R53 years so I suspect no difference. RealOEM shows the whole driveshaft with CV joints as a remanufactured part.

try Way at Waymotorsports for a much better price. Also refrain from buying the Chinese axles that sell for $100 per side. They are horrible and WILL fail, sometimes in three months.

 

I just looked a Mini Mania and they show two different drive shafts depending on the year up to 07/2004 and then after 07/2004. Here is the link.
