Here's a link addressing the boot latch adjustment that may help. Good luck.

Yes. If you're lucky the dealer will replace it. They redesigned the latch receiver.

Try a couple of wraps of black tape around the latch wire. It stopped the rattle on mine for over 6 months now.

I had this problem myself in my 2010 MCS. There are a number of different threads addressing this issue, but no summary of steps to take...
a. Make sure the flexible bumpers in the hatch are twisted out far enough to give a snug fit when the hatch is closed; be careful though, if the bumpers are out too far, they will bend and become less effective
b. Get the replacement "D-ring" receiver from the manufacturer; it is black
c. You can try a wrap or two of electrical tape around the latch ring, but I did not find this to be helpful
d. Most important; in the R56 snap off the two plastic caps next to the boot latch itself, exposing the two T30 torx screws that can be loosened to adjust the latch itself. I put my latch as far forward as possible, making sure that the d-ring will strike the latch right in the middle
e. Also important: Put a good amount of a heavy lubricant on/in the latching mechanism itself.
My hatch is quiet now, for the time being....

A tech at my dealer told me that was the test for them to see if the latch wire was bad. If the rattle went away the new latch wire went in.
