Air bag issues?

I know, this always seems to be a topic on here with 02/03 MC's...i heard the other day that there was a problem with the airbags because of the wires was a little short, and if you moved a seat back quickly and hard it may cause the air bag light to come on....is this true? any way to fix it without going to a dealer? my light has been on and i havent had the time to bring it 2 hrs to a dealer to get it looked at...any ideas?

as far as i know, the only way to get an airbag light checked and cleared is via dealership service.

and yes, there was an issue with the wiring for the connectors under the seats, which is covered by an extended warranty from MINI.

Mine was just fixed under warranty even though the car is 5 years old with over 60k on the odometer. I left it at the dealer last Friday instead of parking it at the airport and picked it up Monday. Bonus: no charge for parking, unlike the airport! (Airport is 5 minutes from the dealer.) MINI has extended the warranty for this repair so do it and make sure your airbag is functional if you ever should need it!

The seat airbag wiring harness has been revised multiple times since 2003.

The airbag light can only be reset by the dealership.

The dealership will almost certainly do this for free, even if you are out of warranty.

Just what did you tell your dealer to have them fix it for free? Mine refuses to acknowledge any warranty extension. Had the air bag light on for 4 months now :(
