Disabling Door Bong Bong Bong?

Any way to turn this thing wayyyy down or off after 30 seconds or so?

I've spent a lot of time recently trying to pair bluetooths/ipods and I really like to have the engine off/door open during these summer months.

TIA - Rex

I have - but it's still loud and annoying. Why doesn't it just give up after a fixed period?

Locate the switch, generally somewhere around the door (in many cars it's between the door hinges) and push it and and tape it in.

The R53 lets you turn on the radio without the key on for 20 minutes. Does the R56 not have this feature, or does the ipod not get powered?

If the key isn't in does it still make the noise? I thought that it didn't.

With the key fob in, mine makes noise anytime the door is open.

Try this (it may not work, but it turns off the interior lights while leaving the door open): with door open press/hold the overhead domelight switch for a couple seconds until it goes off and see.

Still dings. Key fob in, car not on or in radio ready mode, dings with the door open.

In my previous car, 2005 Subaru Legacy GT, there was a simple albeit weird procedure.

- Cycle the key to ignition on then insert the seat belt into it holder til it click and then unlatch, repeating 25 times if I remember right. You would only then hear the dinging for like 5 seconds on initial startup but never again as long as the car was still with the key in the on position or engine running.
