Hard Acceleration Delay

Confession, I like to play "red light grand prix" once in a while. Every so often however my car will pause/hesitate for a couple of seconds. When it kicks in, I get thrown back into my seat but I am curious as to what is happening and why it only happens once in a while.

it's your DSC. it's doing it's job to prevent loss of grip off the line.

Why would it be sporadic? Is it possibly CAI?

could it be the yo-yo effect and maybe not dsc? turn it off, and if it's still happening then that may be the case.

I like this kind of experiment. Let me give it a few more days but so far, no hesitation.

Thanks

it's the dsc, it's sporadic because sometimes your wheels might loose grip on a road with a little more debris versus a really clean road that can give you a good start. =] i play "red light grand prix" as well.

replace the OEM throttle body with an aftermarket unit and this should go away. part of the hesitation problem is the less-than-performance-oriented throttle body and the crappy Siemens control unit. Any performance modder can give U more details.

I don't have any hesitation on my car and I have the OEM throttle body...

You need to tune it out, having a bigger throttle body isn't going to make it open faster.

Dude It's not a question of making it "faster," but making it *smoother* with no hesitations across the rpm spectrum....

...but then I see yr sig and all yr mods, no wonder!

OK then, add to my post "possible" causes for the hesitation is the OEM throttle body and Siemens control unit. Jeez Louise.

I played red light grand prix against a new Acura TL (which I also own) and I beat it. The TL could definitely beat my MINI but I narrowly beat him, surprisingly. He got behind me, stuck his hand out of the sunroof and gave me the finger! Some people have a hard time out there...geez...

If you have a lead foot, turn off the DSC and modulate the throttle for maximum traction and acceleration. Use the DSC for slippery conditions only to enhance safety. (Now wait for the heated debate).
