Cylinder Head Problem

Exactly one month to the day from when we picked our our 1st MCS the check engine light came on. There was a great deal of noise coming from the engine, a complete lack of power, and the driving was rough. I am not mechanically minded, so we took it back without a even a guess as to what might be wrong. After a week in the shop our MINI dealership told us there was a factory defect (a pinhole) in mold of the #2 cylinder head. They fixed it and since then we have had no problems and have really loved the MINI.

I was wondering if anyone else had this "factory" defect. I tried to find more information but was unable to find anyone else with this problem. Our '07 MCS was built in the middle of the year. Our service was a great. Just curious, thanks.

I had the same problem with my MCS. Universal City MINI tried to blame me for the engine failure and wouldn't even finish diagnosing the car unless I came up with $3k out of pocket!!! I ended up getting it fixed at another dealer where I was told that the head was defective.

I never seem to understand why some Mini dealers are such wienies... Don't see they're just shooting themselves in the foot?
