new mini

New 2008 base mini picked up today. 4 miles on the odometer.

Two questions:
1. Turning the headlamp stalk to "on" position doesn't seem to do anything - the headlamps (not fog lamps) seem to always be on. Is this normal or adjustable?

2. The driver's side mirror motor seems "quirky" - seems like it grinds and then catches and doesn't seem to travel or adjust to "higher" viewing range (as if you were trying to see up into SUVs behind you). Is that abnormal? I suspect so just because the passenger mirror seems to have very good adjustment range.
Thanks.
Greg

Why are you messing about here. Take it back to the dealer

Before signing any papers, I check everything out. I run/operate EVERY control. I run it on a highway and in stop and go traffic making sure it has reached operating temperature. The radio is always off, unless its being checked.

If you've ordered it make sure all fluids are topped off. You'd be surprised at some of the horror stories. You've invested lots of time waiting around. Don't leave anything to chance.

I only got burned once. It was late at night and it was cold. I didn't check the AC. Turns out the AC needed freon. It only cost me some time dropping off and picking up the Jeep. But, it was my fault for not checking.

A few minutes spent up front will result in saved hours/days later on.

I think I figured out the lights issue - when the running lamps via computer are set to "on", the headlights stay on, although like some have reported, settings haven't "stuck" as now I'm back to one blink instead of the orginal setting of 3 blinks for changing lanes. Regardless, the car is growing on me. I love the color (MellowYellow w/White roof) and I'm beginning to like the way it drives although it sounds kind of like a diesel (and it's not an S) - more part of its charm. I'm settling down about the mirror, but I will just have to get that addressed (and anything else that "pops") before too long. Greg
