02 MC Electrical Problem

Hello,

I have an 02 MC and have a problem. My son stuck something metallic into the cigarette lighter socket and caused a spark. Since then, I have noticed that my rear wiper does not work. Also, the temporary 12V to the radio is not present. Whenever I turn off the car, the radio is reset and doesn't remember that it was on or what it was playing (ie, radio, CD etc...).

Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? I have checked all of the fuses and they look good.

Thanks!

Bryan

Hi Bryan,

I've done similar things in other cars. Check the fuse for the items that aren't working...Refer to your owners manual for the fuse to check.....pick up a box of replacement fuses at your local auto parts store and replace it....

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Make sure that you check fuses in both the left kickpanel box inside and the underhood fuse box. The one under the hood is a source for some of the interior circuits. If all fuses check out good, there is a chance that a ground was compromised. That takes a bit of troubleshooting to track down, however.
