Heated mirrors??!!??

OK, now I've got another little issue....seems as if my heated mirrors have stopped working...

Are they ON when the car is on OR when the outside temp reaches a certain point? I've checked all the fuses I can (atleast the ones I think are related to the mirrors...I don't have a Bently yet)...and they all check out OK...

I haven't found a "manual switch" to turn them on/off....I'm going to pop the mirror faces off to make sure the wires are still attached to the little posts...

Anyone have any insight on this??

THANKS!!!!!!

They work in conjunction with the rear window defrost. The same button on climate control panel operates both simultaneously.

No, they're on when the car is on (even in the summer).

That explains why I've seen them clear aon a cool spring morning without turning anything on.

Always on, regardless of outside temp., thats why you get water spots on them after a rain.

You forgot to add the .
I swore that one of the first things I would do would be to add a switch to turn those off in summer (not that I need them in WINTER here. ) Sadly, that has not happened.

JohnnyG, I checked out the fuse box, and don't see any obvious fuse, though one would assume that they ARE fused somewhere.:impatient

If you can figure out the British version of icons. You'll be able to determine the fuse looking at the box cover. Try the fuses in the driver's side panel near the door under the dash.

Yeah Eric, I know baffles me too, they should come on with outdoor cold warning I wonder if they are tied in with the heated washer jets, which are also always on

The mirror heaters are on fuse F35. The mirror motors are on the same circuit, so whether or not you can operate the electric mirrors will tell you the condition of the fuse.

Oh, didn't realize that. I guess I've never waited long enough to notice, but they never seemed to clear until I hit the rear defrost button.

Next time it is warm outside, reach out and touch one of the mirrors.

OK...I popped the mirror off last night....guess what....NO WIRES and NO PRONGS on the backs of the mirrors?????? Am I wrong...how can I have heated seats and washer jets but NOT the mirrors? I did buy the car used, and not from a Mini dealer but I thought all 3 of those items came as a "package"?? Is there a way for me to determine if the original buyer requested the whole package or bits and peices or is that possible?

I want my heated mirrors :(

That does seem strange. The Cold Weather package has all 3 items. But even as a separate option, heated mirrors are combined with heated washer jets. Are you absolutely sure you have heated washer jets?

And thus the problem is revealed. Never underestimate the first question from tech support - "Is it plugged in?"

Yep heated seats were a seperate option, it was another $30 for heated jets/mirrors.
