Question about 6-speed tranny fluid

Hey guys and gals,

We just plopped a new clutch in my '03 Cooper S, but when we pulled the tranny out it spilled about 1/2 cup of fluid on the floor. I'd like to top it back off, but I can't find anywhere that tells me if it is natural or synthetic from the factory. I don't mind adding 75w90, as thats all that is available near me, since its just a tiny bit, but I don't want to mix synthetic with non synthetic.

I know I can get the Redline stuff, but the car is in the process of being put back together today, and I don't have the time to chase down a dealer of that stuff.

Thanks in advance!

Why not just drain it all and refill it with whatever you want?

Synthetic, MTF-94, 75W80.

It takes 2.1Q if I remember.

Changed it the other week, smooth as buttah.

Any time you remove something like a tranny, IMHO it is the obvious thing to do.... with the piece on a bench, it is so easy, and it most likely needs to be done anyway.
