Cold temp PS pump noise?

Drove the MCS in sub freezing temps the other day for the first time and I noticed a noise while turning with a cold engine bay. It only seemed to appear under short radius turns and sounded very much like other cars I've owned when the steering is held against the fully left/right lock position and the pump is straining.

My question is: Is this worth attempting to recreate for the dealership while still under warrenty? I've got 2 winters left to do it and it'd be a pain to get an appointment, in cold weather and deliver the car with a cold engine to reproduce it reliably.

If it's just a noise I can live with it, no big deal, but if it's an idication I might have to replace the PS pump I'd rather get it done early on under warrenty.

TIA,
-/flea

You answer your own question right here. Get it checked. My pump is out and I have a quote of $1400 to R&R at the Mini dealership.

SO is not getting it checked under warranty gamble worth it to you?

My pump went out last weekend. New pump came yesterday (to the tune of $542) and I will be replacing it tomorrow myself.

I'd suggest atleast getting it checked while you can. These pumps don't seem to last very long. Mine went out with NO notice.

How's you cooling fan? I'll be doing mine in a week or so. Tried to Remove the pump Sunday but I couldn't find the other bolts to remove. 2 for the PS fan were easy. Then there was another easy one (all on the bottom of the car and easy to see)...But then I could see the other bolts to remove. Have a friend with a lift so it will be alot easier on my next attempt.

I checked the cooling fan and it was ok. Of course it comes off pretty easy with those two bolts.

I used these instructions to do mine:

Sweet. The picture from the rear for the bolt I couldn't see. The bentley wasn't as clear.
