Dealer Trashed Her Car

Noob here, so sorry if this is in the wrong forum if so, one of the mods can move it.
The day we picked up my wifes Mini, the salesman made a hole (with something in his pocket) in one of the lounge leather seats. No problem, he says, I'll get you a new one. A month or so later they call and say the new seat is in. Went to pick it up and they replaced the wrong seat??? On top of that it was a different style than the passenger seat! No problem we'll get that taken care of, well they ended up with just replacing the covers on both seats. Now they are both pretty wrinkled. On one of the trips we noticed a blemish on the (black roof). Probably from bird**** while sitting at the dealership, our cars sleep in the garage. The roof was repainted and returned with bumps in the paint covered with swirl marks. I told the SA what a terrible job I thought she had done and they said "bring it back we'll fix it". I have it back now, the roof looks worse than ever, the seats are wrinkled and frankly I'm scared to look too much closer.
The shame of it is the car was delivered in flawless condition. Today (6 mos. later) the car looks like crap and it was all done by the dealer. I don't want to ever put the car in that dealers care again. Do any of you know who I can deal with besides my dealer?
[/rant] Sorry so long. TIA

What part of the world are you in?

The type of work you're describing is usually subbed out, it's probably not the actual dealership doing the work. Your dealer needs to find new subs, and you need to find a new dealer.................

With what you pay for a mini, I would actually go on back to the dealership and raise caine... You shouldn't have to accept the car back in less then the condition when u brought it there.. its your car, make them fix it, I would go get estimates from another mini dealership.. and then go back to the ones who made a mess out of it, and point blank explain.. that one way or another the car is going to be the way it should ..

Thanks for the reply. TX.
Correct on all points. It isn't practical to go to another dealer. I think I'll approach them about picking my own shop to correct their work. I would have thought the SA would have at least looked at the car before it was returned. How/should MiniUSA be contacted for these type issues?

I had work done at another dealer. I found gouges in my center console, and to go back to the dealer would be too far. There is a Mini rep that visits all the dealers. I described my problem to the other service dept. He (new service dept)told the rep about it. At first he wanted the rep. to see the problem, but later he said it wasn't necessary.....he would just explain it. I sent photos to my dealer, when he asked for them. Somehow they all got it together and took care of me at another dealer's service dept. At first the new service guy didn't return my calls (after I had taken it it)...so I called his manager...from then on they treated me royally! There is no reason at all to keep going to a place where you are mistreated.

If you can't go to another service dept.you might make an appt to speak to, or go there when the rep. is scheduled to arrive. Havew you spoken with the managers?

FWIW, repainting a roof because of a bird poo spot is a little excessive. Depending on how severe the etching was, they can often be repaired perfectly in just a few minutes. Sounds like lots of bad decisions were made on the dealers part to me.

I would go to a different dealer and see if they can fix the problem.

j/k
The dealer has agreed to let us bring it to a body shop we choose and pay the bill. As long as they will continue to put forth effort to resolve the problem, I would rather not (publicly) say who the dealer is.

Yea.. it probably could have been buffed out, I tried with a pc/da buffer and all but removed it, I think if they had used a rotary buffer & compound they could have gotten it, but then, they couldn't (wouldn't) even remove the swirls. I'll update this thread when we're with it. Thanks for the replies.

There are a few dealers in TX, where in TX are you located? There is a also a local to TX forum, granted it's heavy on the D/FW area but we do cover the entire state. Check out www.metroplexmini.org

Thats horrible and still curious about which dealer has done this to you. Bad service and poor workmanship from a dealer is unacceptable even if they continue to make efforts. I am sure that it will all get worked out somehow but really stinks that you have to be put out so much for things that didnt have to happen.

Thanks, yeah I'm a member there too... (different name ) I'm on way too many car forums, mostly LS1/GTO/racing stuff but I really like the wifes MC too. Just no time...
We really want to make one of the local GTGs/runs in the Houston area. Someday we'll find the time.

Sorry to hear about the ongoing issues, ug Yeah, seatcovers are often difficult to replace perfectly it seems, and everything just sounds like inept there :(

This is a reminder to me to never accept delivery of a car (or take it off the lot after service if there is an issue) with any flaws until they are fixed or get another altogether, too many things can go wrong and once the dealer has your money it becomes pretty unimportant to them and a pain to deal with.

Best of luck - see if they will comp you anything, like tint/clearbra or something you want, for putting you through this since, after all, it was entirely their fault in the first place.

a quick search will show what dealer is so bad. I would call for a meeting with area rep and dealer owner - leave them the car - take a loaner and have them call when it is DONE and done correct... Good luck - hang tight and Demand results - You are the customer and have done nothing wrong...

Yeah, what dealer??? It's okay, we won't tell. Sure hope it's not MINI of The Woodlands.

I think at this point I would take the issues up with the service manager of the dealership--probably the BMW/MINI service manager. It's time to stop dealing with the MA or SA. If the service manager can't get it together, deal with the regional manager, and up from there.

I would tell the dealer if they don't get there act together that your going to Mini USA. As long as you have tried to work with them your fine. Make sure you have a journal of all work/visits and what was said. Dealers hate bad customer feed back. And if MiniUSA has to step in that's worse. If my MA pulled that crap I would go nuts...

I told a couple of people in PMs who it was too. I just didn't want to cause undue alarm unless it got to a point where they quit working on getting issues resolved. Tomorrow the "Coopah" is going to a paint shop I've used before on the dealers ticket. They know what I expect so I'm pretty sure this will be the end of it. I would caution anyone who has paint work done by any shop to be very critical and check it in all light conditions. If your unsure of your ability to critique it, bring it to another shop and ask what they think.
I'll keep this updated.
Thanks to all who replied.

I don't usually believe in slinging mud about a business. But, it looks like you went through all the steps and covered your bases and still didn't get satisfactory results. If after all that you still didn't resolve the issues then I say, let the truth be known. An absolute defense for a slander case has always been the truth. If it's true, you didn't say anything bad about 'em. You just stated the facts. Thanks for sharing. I most likely would of been a "victim" had I not read your post.
