Start with the gas cap, is it tight?

I see this code a lot. I just saw it again today on a guy's Ford. It was loose.

From: Washington. No, the other one.
The valve is the black plastic doohickey on the left front side (as you face it) of the engine. Has a hard plastic hose going in the bottom, one coming out the top. It's about the size of a big cigar. It's part of the fuel system pressurization/vapor control process, along with a pump (not the fuel pump) and a charcoal canister under the rear wheel lining. If tightening the gas cap doesn't fix it, the other common cause on older mini's is the charcoal canister may have a crack and won't hold vacuum.
