Month old 2007 S - when we turn on the front defrost, the dash starts to click and rattle from various locations. Anyone else?

 

Oh yeah! Once the plastic is warm things quiet down.

 

Mine is more creaky sounding - more than clicking and rattling. But it def makes noise.

 

Strange, of course my defroster hasn't gotten that much of a workout yet (MINI is just over 2 weeks old) but it doesn't make any strange noises at all. Just the routine 'air rushing' sound.

 

Yes, noted here too as the weather is cooling and the HVAC **** is set to "red". Differential expansion of the HVAC ducts as it is warms. That is the explanation but it is very pronounced in the mini and that surprises me as HVAC engineering is not a new science. Harmless in the big picture though.
