The SA told me the place is pretty strict about service since it is a BMW corporate facility, not a franchise.
The service in Manhattan is really bad. You'll be much better off going to Morristown where they actually spend time trying to find and fix your problem. In Manhattan you have to wait in line just to quickly tell someone what is going on, then they just ignore what you told them. Morristown isn't that far away if you go during non-rush hours and you have EZ Pass to get back through the tunnel.

I have issues with a knocking noise while sitting at idle, although it might be my phone screwing with the hi-fi system. I don't know, the dealer said they would look at it. Also my rear fog light stopped working, but that is being fixed by the dealer as well, I think it was just a faulty bulb from the factory.

Is that knocking noise in the engine? Could be just the direct injectors--designed that way...

Does the knocking go away if you press down on the clutch? If so, then it is likely the dual-mass flywheel. I have the same noise, and from what I have read, it was an issue on earlier models as well, and even after replacing, the sound could return. Others have reported this same sound with their R56 models. I'm not concerned about it at this point.

My only real issue at present is with the environmental controls for the vents in the car. They seem to have a mind of their own, and while I can change which vents are active, it never seems to correspond to the pictures on the dial, and getting the heat to come full out of the dash vents is damn near impossible.

It's not the injectors, that noise sounds different and this knocking is coming from the rear (possible passenger side). Also my Cooper is an auto. I'll be curious to see what the dealer has to say.

What is the noise like? Mine is a low thumping sound every 5-10 seconds. As per this thread and others, it may be the sound of the fuel tank venting pressure.

You can fix the sunroof rattle by putting the fluffy side of velcro onthe two wind deflector flaps It will stop the plastic to glass contact which will end the rattle.
