Very Weak Glass (Doors)

Has anyone had issues with the driver or passenger door glass being really weak? My window tinter somehow has worn away enough glass to where there is very noticeable distortion in the glass.... also, when using a nylon scrubber, it somehow left scratches in the glass. Typically glass is not easily scratched, especially with nylon materials. This problem was only apparent in 1 of the windows, drivers side which leads me to believe that the QC is just bad with the glass material. Is this something i should contact MINI about? Anyway, the tinter, is ordering me a new driver side window.

Perhaps they grabbed a steel wool ball or something... I could of sworn glass is much harder than nylon, and shouldn't be scratched by it.

Haven't heard anything about soft glass..

stuff

Most of the nylon scratchy pads have some sort of abrasive added to them to make them, well, more abrasive. Whatever it is they use will indeed scratch glass, even tempered glass cookware.

I doubt much that any glass was actually worn away by the tinter, much more likely that the weird crystal structure of the glass is more visible with the tint on. Every time I put on my polarized glasses the world around me is full of bizarre auto windows that look perfectly normal without the lenses.

For getting the scratches out I highly recommend the glass polishing kit Eastwood sells. Top notch components, and one of the best $35 you'll ever spend on any car with some miles on the glass.

he showed me the tools he used, i believe him... the window is clearly distorted even with the tint removed. I would compare it to plexiglass that is partially melted... thats how the light is distorted.
