installing when clutch down
installing when clutch down
Hi guys
i have upgraded clutch, flywheel, ported head, haltech interceptor, air filter, oil can etc.
my problem is that the car is stalled so smoothly now when i put the clutch down for about 5-10 seconds like rolling to the traffic light.
my understanding is the clutch is not engaged. why is it stalled ? some say the idle speed is too low (i think it's a bit lower than '1' on the gauge). unfortunately Haltech cannot adjust the idle speed and my garage don't have the tool to adjust the factory ECU. i believe the throttle body is clean, shouldn't cause air flow problem.
the car don't have any light on when starting and driving. i am wondering if the matter is normal for all the upgrates ? how can i avoid it (or i just need to shift faster and give more gas while slowing) ?

Does the car stall if you have the transmission in neutral with the clutch out? My car idles at between 800/ 900 RPM so what you are describing sounds like the clutch never fully disengages when pushed in, effectively killing the motor.
As far as the car not having any "lights" , there are no warning lights for an improperly adjuusted or installed clutch. If the clutch is still engaged when the pedal is down to the floor, raising the idle speed won't do anything but make your new clutch wear out even faster than it will anyway, as you will be effectively "riding" the clutch all the time. Back to the installer dude and let him do it right ............for free!
i upgrate my ECU with Haltech interceptor..
i will test if my car stalls in neutral. usually it happens mostly when stopping to the traffic light, then push the clutch pedal all the way down with gear and let it rolls.
also i gather the speed drops very quickly (guess the flywheel).

who did the clutch install?
i did all the upgrade at a local garage....just spoke to another shop..looks like the problem may come from my mid-exhaust. i think the garage may block the exhaust sensor somehow, the factory ECU detects the exhaust response and turn off the power. and was told i do NOT need an external ECU at all. they can decode the factory ECU and adjust the performance. what am i gonna do with the external ECU...damnit...
I too have the issue of stalling at times.
Does this happen all the time or only after the car is warmed up?
Does it happen when the AC is on or off or both?
Do you have a lightened flywheel as well as an uprated clutch?
Mine stalling only happens on very hot days, 90+ outside on long drives when the AC is on. I can't see raising the idle speed for 1/3 of the year. However, your local dealer should have the ability to raise it as high as 950 rpm.

i have pretty much everything upgraded...lighted flywheel, final drive, spec clutch, fast cam, ported head, full exhaust and external ecu (haltech intercetor) etc
i just took my car back today after 1 week check from the garage..how useless they are..couldn't find anything wrong...
they don't have the tool for the factory ECU. i see a bit lower than '1' on the gauge, so i guess the idle speed 950 is about right.
the stalling happens regardless of the AC. i suppose the car stalls easlier with AC on and usually warmed up. i notice the car is fine in neutual.
at the moment, to avoid the problem, i can only shift quicker and do not push the pedal down until it is really close to stop.
the garage tries to persuade me to upgrade the ECU to high performance one at a cost. they couldn't even find the problem right now and just claim it's the current ECU. how can i trust them that it won't happen later.
