Every once in a while, the lights on the right-hand side of the climate control panel die from the number 3 over. Nothing else dies, and the ***** still function as they are supposed to, just without any lights. This happens randomly (usually when I'm touching it), but it isn't triggered by anything specific and it fixes itself later. It is a '05 Cooper Convertible. Since it's a convertible, it doesn't have the automatic climate control. I'm usually good with electrical stuff, but the only thing I can think of would be a loose connector...

 

It's happening on the left side of my 04 (the temp control side). I found another thread with someone else having the same issue. Typically a bad bulb. Requires taking everything out, and quite time consuming. I'm debating having it done under warranty, or just living with it...

 

if it's a bad bulb, why does it come back on?
