Seat and Steering Wheel
I have noticed first that my steering wheel started to peel just a bit 1/4" hole I repaired that with a vinyl kit (heat and color match) so that looks pretty good cant notice really at all. Now I noticed that my leatherette drivers seat has 4 "splits" not all the way thru the backing but thru the vinyl to the backing about 3 inches long. I know know if I can or should patch that as it gets a lot more flexing during every day. Any ideas or estimates on a proffesional repair or replacement of the seat?
Thanks

At two years my steering wheel leather was blistering and flaking off where my thumb rested at the 10 o'clock position. I had it changed out- it was just the outer rim of the steering wheel- the dealer asked if I wanted the vinyl for more durability or the leather. I took the leather and I am more careful about hand position and I do clean the leather regularly. So far over two years later it is fine.
My leather driver's seat side bolster started to crack and flake off leather about 2 years. Only on the drivers seat and there was no other trouble. Since the leather is darker there the dealer tried to use a dark dye to color the lost leather areas and it sort of worked and hasn't gotten a lot worse but it's continuing some. I do clean and treat the leather regularly.
The leatherette is exposed and cracks overtime as well. I had hoped that it would be more durable but the seat there gets worn out. Can you take any pictures and post them?
If you want to repair it take it to an auto upholstery shop and ask what can be done. You can also cover the front seats in Leather or cloth of your choice. I don't think it is that expensive. You do have airbags in your seats so be careful and warn them.
If you find a good solution then post it. As your car get much older you could go to a junk yard and see if you can find a seat but I think with the airbags the seats are expensive.
