Several problems with my 03 Mini
It's really not my mini. It's my girlfriends but it might as well be mine since I drive it all the time. It has 38000 miles. all the problems started to come up after the 30000 mile warranty expired ( How convinent).
1. Odometer isn't working. I suspect it's the speed sensor on the transmission. Does anyone know the specific name of this sensor so I can order one. Also does anyone have any pictures or diagrams of it's location.
2. Drivers side seat is jammed. I have no idea what's wrong. It stays in the reclined position. It hurts my back to drive long distances since I have to hunch. Has anyone had this problem or know how to fix it.
3.This last problem doesnt really bother me know but I'm sure it will arise again in winter. The car whines until it warms up. Is this normal ?
Any help would be greatly apriciated.

Bumper to bumper warranty is 4/50... may want to verify that it is out of warranty (866-ASK-MINI --- have your VIN handy) . The maintenance warranty was 3/36.
Search this site and you should be able to see some posts about the seat.

The seatback latches had a lot of problems in the earlier cars.
My'03 whines a lot in the morning. It's just the power steering pump, and it's always been like that. I think it gets a little quieter after the car warms up.
