I wish I never bought it!

750 miles, and ONE WEEK with the car, and Ive encountered a host of issues.

-I have air leaks in both of my windows.
-The windows moan when you lower or raise them when wet.
-The driver window no longer inches back up when you close the door.
-The trunk takes two or three tries to close proper.
-the passenger side taillight is showing a line of clips and is not seated properly.
-my stripes and pillars are stained permanently from the factory washer fluid!

I had less problems with my twelve year old Subaru! This is ridiculous!

keep track of it all

they get 3 shots to make a car right, if they cant fix the same problem after the 3rd attempt it's a lemon

I'm sorry you're having such issues. It's sad when a new car experience turns out making the owner regret their choice.

I hope you have a nice trip. Travel safely. Keep us posted on the dealership's handling of your issues - word of mouth in the MINI community is very powerful; good and bad.

I dropped off my car at Morristown Mini about an hour ago. I left a list of the aformentioned problems and my key and picked up the 07 Chili Red Courtesy car for my trip. Hey, at least its automatic so that the ball and chain can drive if I get tired on the way up.

I will update tomorrow if they call me with anything.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Who knows, maybe you'll get these things fixed and then have thousands of trouble free miles. Give it chance.

Good luck!

It's a bummer that you've had to experience this....I hope the dealer does everything they can to make it right and make you happy... At least they got off on the right foot by giving you a MINI loaner...

Morristown is pretty good so I'm sure they will be able to put the car right for you.
Nothing sounds too difficult to fix.

Persistance pays off. Politely return to your dealer as many times as it takes.
Mini/BMW is a company that ultimately wants happy customers and has shown me that they'll go the extra mile.

Dang that sucks. I had alot of problems with my 05 and it was in the shop at least once a month. However, I've had my 07 for 6 months and 10000 miles and I haven't had one single thing go wrong with it. IMO the build quality, fit and finish, and overall experience has been much much better with the R-56 than with my R-53. Hopefully they will get the kinks out and you will have you a nice healthy happy mini back to ya in no time. After all, you are motoring in the Ultimate Driving machine as bmw likes to call it. lol

Maybe I'm out of line here, but you just don't sound very happy at all. You refer to your (wife or girlfriend) as the ball and chain just my thoughts.

I feel you pain, really, there are a few minor things wrong with my car that are wrong with my car that need repair..

-air leaks in window, My dealer didn't have time to fix it the first two times I dropped it off for a day or repairs, but I was able to fix it myself.

-hatch not closing properly, mine loosened up on it's own. My dealership's explaination that its normal for all BMW's and I needed to get used to it really pissed me off. If they told me to wait for it to loosen up I would have much happier.

I am not sure of your other problems but they sound like warranty issues. I have missing voice actiation software and a sunroof that gets jammed when left in the sun. My dealer left me stranded without a vehicle while trying to sort things out and I had to resort to riding my bicycle to work... quality service huh?

I complained to BMW/Mini and the dealer reluctantly provided me with a loaner, a 2007 3 series with cracked windscreen, minor body damage and a steering wheel that vibrates at anything over 100km/h. It also smells like puke (possibly cheap cigars) but it gets me to work at least.

I've had the loaner for a week now. I am still waiting for the software to be installed and the sunroof to be looked at. Since it's not hot outside anymore the sunroof will likely work perfectly for the dealer.

I can't change how you feel about your car, but I strongly encourage you to stick by your guns. I found being nice with the dealer and BMW/Mini was not productive I tried this for about two months. BMW/Mini will only do what is minimally required by law. You have to threaten them to motivate them. Document everything and make sure you get the exact name of everyone you are dealing with.

Good Luck

Uh sorry, but these seem pretty minor to me. Your dealer should be able to take care of them.

-I have air leaks in both of my windows.
Do you know if they are at the top or sides?

-The windows moan when you lower or raise them when wet.
I wonder if a little silicone rubber treatment would solve this?

-The driver window no longer inches back up when you close the door.
There is a way to reset the window's top position. That solved this for a number of people. From this thread:
"If you close the door and the window does not rise, put the key in the ignition and turn to the first position then lift up on the window switch and hold for 10 seconds. It will reset the circuit and work properly again."

-The trunk takes two or three tries to close proper.
This is a very simple adjustment. You need a T-30 Torx. There are two screws that hold the hatch latch on the body of the car. Loosen and move the latch slightly towards the back of the car. Tighten. You can set it just the way you want it. Too loose and the hatch will probably rattle. Too tight and you can't close it. I had the same issue with the hatch on an Integra.

-the passenger side taillight is showing a line of clips and is not seated properly.
-my stripes and pillars are stained permanently from the factory washer fluid!

I had less problems with my twelve year old Subaru! This is ridiculous!
I had more problems than that with an Acura Integra, and the MINI is British sports car.

I hope it turns out better with the Mini than with the "ball and chain".

You are right, it is not a sport scar. The point was that it is British.

Back to the topic ,as of this week I wont keep this car past the warranty I dont trust it,I've kept other cars for over 18 years , this one seems like it could cost alot when things break and it seems prone to breaking . That said it is the most fun I've had with a car , just to much drama for the long haul.

The ball and chain jokingly refers to my boyfriend. lol. I didnt think anyone would actually pick up on that, and we are really happy together :-P . I just made a joke in what else was an angry post...

As for the car, I have no idea if they looked at it yet, which is fine being they are closed today and they have a short day on Saturday I think. I am taking the loaner on my vacation, but Im a little worried because the engine sounds like it has valve tap :-P . Im used to tapping though from my old Subaru :-P. I think things will work out ok.

I appreciate all of the input and suggestions, but the reason I bought this car is because I did NOT want to work on it. It was inexpensive and came with a decent warranty. I do not have the time or resources to work on my daily driver. My 92 Subaru is my project and most of the work is handled by a close friend of mine who lives in Philadelphia. Needless to say, I dont even keep that car in the city, so thats why I was so upset about the Mini. Without it, I have NO transportation to work, as it is 25 or so miles away.

Anyway, Im off to Cape Cod to forget about all that and just chill for the next few days.

+1 to that. This loaner 07 with 3600 miles makes all sorts of strange rattles and such. Makes me wonder about mine...
