Low clutch pedal engagement

Got into drive my old 03 Mini S with 40,000 miles that I had sold to a friend 6 months ago. Noticed the the clutch engages just a 1/2 inch from the floor. My new 07 engages high, about 1/2 for the top of it's travel. I know there's no adjustment because it's hydraulic, does that mean the 03 clutch is worn out? Seems to still be working fine. Would bleeding the brake and clutch system help?

Bringing this topic back from the dead...anyone have a direction on low engagement point? I have bled the system a couple of times with no effect. The car has 67k miles and the clutch seems completely functional...just odd to drive with the engagement point so close to the floor. I am prepared to replace the clutch but would prefer not to unless I know it will help.

Thanks...ned.

Hi,
I have an 07 MCS as well with 18K miles and a similar clutch take-up point. I'm more worried that my clutch is almost gone after a Mini Tech said I'd be lucky to get another 2k miles!
~4 months warranty left and says they won't cover...

I have the same low engagement point problem on my newly acquired 2005 MCS JCW, anyone ever figure out how to raise it somehow?
