CV Joints
CV Joints
Can anyone tell me what kind of noise bad CV Joints would make? Has anyone had them replaced out of warranty? If so, what did it cost? I'm just trying to trouble shoot before I take it into the dealer so that I know what to expect. I don't want them to tell me I need my transmission replaced if it is just the CV joints!
Any help/advise would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Every front wheel drive car I have ever owned - including my '59 Mini , made a "klunking" sound when you turn to the "bad" side" of a CV joint - as in going around a corner. Remember a CV joint is a "Constant Velocity" joint - trying to keep the front wheels at the same speed in a corning situation. If they are failing they can't keep that same velocity and start to make klunking sounds as they try to work. The harder the turn the worse the sound.
Hope this helps.

Thanks, Mike...it doesn't sound like that is my problem, then since it doesn't matter if I am turning or not. Would you be willing to take a look at my other thread here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d.php?t=108736
Any insight you have would be really appreciated!
Thanks again!
