My air filter box has 2 star screws on the right, and theres nothing to hold it tight on the left. Were there clasps or clamps there at one time? It seems to be lifting up about a quarter inch...Cant be good for the engine..

If you cant picture it, I can post pics.. let me know.

 

Yep, the top half of the box is broken..can't get in rush to put it on or take it off.

on the left there's two catches (one hidden in this pic, the other circled) on the top half and matching ***** on the bottom. They are quite ridgid, so if they're missing it should be pretty visible.

On mine, I have to catch the left first, then do the screws on the right. Since they're stiff, mine won't latch if the right is screwed down first.

 

Mine are not there. Where can I get some?

 

The whole airbox must be replaced, it can not be fixed and you can't buy just the top. Maybe you can find someone on NAM that has one for sale, I did...

I had purchsed a 2003 MINI with the same problem - dealer fixed it under warranty.

 

Any way to rig it to close?
