Has anyone had either the entire or partial wiring harness placed in thier MC or MCS. My harness partially burn't during one of the "spontaneous engine fires" and the dealer is recommending replacement. If anyone has had this done, please let me know approximately what they paid to have it done or if it is at all feasible to buy one and do it yourself. I am very mechanically inclined, but have never wired a new car such as this. Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

 

Heads up... There are four main pieces to the wiring harness. The engine harness, the dash harness, the radio harness and the body harness. If no H/K, then about 4 different audio cables, including the radio harness. Not sure wheat section of the harness your planning on replacing.

Another heads up, apparently, the wiring harness has to somehow "match" the VIN in the ECU. There was a new car that came into Desert MINI with a bad harness that needed replacement before delivery. It took several weeks to get it because the harness had to be built with the correct VIN. I don't know how true this is, but something to keep in mind or try to verify.
