I recently bought a used 05 MINI . I just received my license plate (rear). The bracket that holds it has holes for screws in it, but there are none in the actual car. So, my plate just kind of hangs there on the screws. I'm worried about it falling off, plus it rattles a bit. Has anyone else seen this problem? Should I drill holes into the car? Help!

 

There should be two screws that hold the rear bracket to the deck lid of the MINI. On that bracket there is four screws that hold the plate on.

 

I guess the dealer removed the screws from the bracket. All I have is 2 long screws. Does anyone know where I could pick up 4 short screws?

 

Go to a local autoparts store and they usually have varying sizes of bolts in little plastic boxes. They are easy to open and close, for resale, so most likely the employee will let you find the one that fits your need. Or run by the dealer if they are convienant.

 

I had to go to a hardware store for mine. They're metric and my auto parts store didn't have them. I got ones for an allen wrench. You can just take the bracket into the store with you to determine the size.
