No worries! Hope you find the cause soon!

Given that you recently had the windshield replaced, that would be my primary suspect.

Mini Sunroof is leaking water inside to floor boards

I have this same problem. Pinpointed the leak to the drain tubes. There are front and rear drain tubes. The boots from the seal feed metal tubes and they come off. This is a link to a youtube video on how to fix it.

havent read through all the posts, so i apologize if this is a moot point!

i bought my 08 clubman S back in november, and havent had a lick of trouble with it!!! LOVE the car! Im also a mechanic and the shop im at has a '10 Hardtop S that was having the water pool in the passenger side. A LOT of water, about an inch above the carpet.

Then it started having wonky problems. rear hatch would pop, wipers would trigger themselves, but not work when you wanted. Then it would have trouble starting, and got to the point where it just wouldnt start anymore. Crank, but wont fire.

No CEL to speak of, so i pull back the carpet on the passenger side and see the fuse box, pull a few connections and see A TON of corrosion on all the plugs. Pull the seat, everything under it, pull the carpet up, suck about 3qts of water out of the underside. Im working on getting the thing dry before cleaning the terminals and hooking it back up.

Looks like the drains arent hooked up for the sunroof. that will be the next endeavor! Great car, Chili red, 6spd, not even 40k on the clock! Ill post back when i get it all back together.

Currently have a space heater in the passenger side trying to just evaporate the rest. Its quite difficult to get the water out of the carpet sponge.

BIG PROBLEMS can happen from this leak. I would advise anyone who has this problem to IMMEDIATELY pull the trim and carpet back from the fuse box and the wiring harness that runs along the passenger side footwell.

cheers,

-Jeff

I am getting water coming in from the top of my hatch, only during car washes though. I dont think it leaks when I personally wash my car, def doesnt when it rains. Last car wash I crawled to the back of the car with a towel to keep it from doing any damage (battery etc back there) and tried to figure out where it was coming from but didnt see anything. the seal looks fine. any ideas?

I hate to revive an old thread but I need assistance. I've got an '04 Mini Cooper where the moon roof leaked into the drivers side floor. I've reconnected the tube as this thread suggests, dried out the floor and re-sealed everything. Initially all of the electronis worked fine. Now however, my tach with all of the components on it, no longer works and neither does my AC. Everything else is OK. The car runs, drives, etc. Brake lights and turn signals work although you can't tell from the inside. I removed the fusebox and cleaned the connections. All the fuses are OK. The one problem seems to be the Tyco brand connector with about 20 wire running in and out of it that was totally submerged below the fuse box. It's got a white piece that slides over to open it up. Blue copper crap was coming out of it and when I mess with it, some stuff comes back and some does not. I'm being told by a garage that I'll probably need a new BCM but that doesn't make sense to me. It's on the other (dry) side of the car. Any thoughts as to what to try next? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You might try posting this in the First Generation sub-forum; this sub-forum deals with the Second Generation cars (2007-2013).

If I were to venture a guess, I'd say the water leak shorted out something. That's the funny thing with water and electricity: problems can develop away from the initial source... The First Gen folks may be able to offer better insight.

I have the same kind of Problem as the first post. kinda. but no sunroof and no damp floors. Water leaking droplets in the car from rear view mirror down the **** on to the dash after car wash. NO SUNROOF 2007 MCS.

I was thinking about replacing top windshield weatherstripping (if anyone can direct me to a "how to" that would be great!)

Has anyone ran into this same problem? im getting worried that when we finally get some rain its going to be an even worse problem then just a few drops.

Are you sure that the water isn't coming in from behind the A post pillar located between the windshield and side window? That's another common problem that requires removal of the plastic cover and a silicone re-seal job. Careful though, the plastic covers break easily and aren't cheap to repair. Good luck!
