Intermittant AUX port failure- anyone else?

My 06 MCSC has been largely problem free (hooray) but within the last 2 weeks or so the oem head unit has twice "forgotten" that the AUX port is installed. I use it for SIRIUS sat radio virtually 100% of the time, as I did on my 05 MCS.

When it happens- once at startup right before the Dragon (!), and this time about 2 weeks later during operation- pressing the "MODE" button cycles only from FM to CD, ignoring the dealer installed AUX port.

So far, disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes fixes the issue, but I'm not up for this occurring constantly.

Before I go into the dealer, I wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this, and what was done....

I had the same problem after I first installed the AUX plug.
Fixed it using this ground loop isolator. LINK
No problems since.

Hey BartMack- do you have your iPod on a dock or charger @ the time? If so, this issue is thoroughly discussed in Navigation and Audio.

If not, it may be a loose connector somewhere in the chain (you know- like mine! only, i'm too lazy- i mean busy- to fix it right now!)

Good luck w/ that!

The SIRIUS unit is wired into a switched power source.... done by an audio shop, but that was over a year ago with no previous issues...

I'm the only sod left who doesn't even own an iPod....

thanks! $18 is worth a trial & error effort vs. going into the dealer

cool. I love MINI people, they're always helpful and kind, kind of like boyscouts (or girlscouts, as it were )

You know, if I'd asked this question on the BMW forum for whatever reason, 10 people would promptly post telling me to search archeological threaddage with no actual help in sight! :impatient

My Sirius is plugged into the cig lighter and it would go out frequently. I hope the gli works for you like it did for me.

Mine sounds very similar, no problems for six months and then it goes on the fritz for about 2 days and then it's back no problem. I may have to add the adapter as well.
I don't have sound quality issues, the AUX simply disappears as an option.

really-- it came back on it's own? I didn't give mine the chance... can't stand listening to the unfulfilled promise of FM music that never arrives, it's only "personality" chatter and commercials, followed by yet another commercial about how that station plays 3 whole songs in a row..

When my sat went out b/c of the aux port I panicked I'd probably pull over on the interstate and disconnect the battery lol

the gli device came in yesterday, but it's been raining, and I have the car cover on the S, so I haven't tried it yet...
