Ok, so I have read a lot of problems with the 2003 Mini's. I have also read a lot of positive feedback about them. Is a 2003 MC S with 80k miles a bad buy? The car is super clean and at a dealer in Chicago, and im considering driving up and taking a serious look at it. Please give me some feedback if you have first or second hand info on this. Thanks a bunch.

I have a 03 MCS 66000 miles, have had no major problems at all. Replaced passenger window cassette, drivers headlight and some rattles and squeaks but thats it.

 

It's an 04, not an 03. That's a big plus as you're a lot further down a new production line and they made some good changes in 04.

I have an 03' Cooper S that has not been babied, it has been a lot of fun, from The Dragon, to Devils Tower, to Missouri back roads, without any problems. Mini Of Saint Louis has an excellent service department. The o4' you are looking at looks very clean and the price is great.

 

Before you buy any used car, have it inspected by a knowledgable 3rd party, it's money well spent!

My '03 MCS JCW has 65K on it with virtually no problems. One window motor and the coolant recovery tank were replaced under warranty, nothing since.
