Did you try calling the police and letting THEM know it?

 

Since I'm on a business trip in socal, nope, and not worthy of a 911 call since no lives were endangered. Fortunately the rear bumper of the Mini was only badly scraped up and both were able to pull off to the road safely.

 

If it was a rear ender they probably don't need a witness, as 99% of all rear end cases are the fault of the party in back.

But in general, short bus is right, as witnesses are really helpful for accidents where someone can easily lie, and overcomplicate a relatively straightforward matter.
