Oh mi gosh, has anyone seen the news with the flooding that's been going on tonight? I am so glad I didn't drive tonight! I hope that none of you have experienced driving in the Compton/Lynwood/Inglewood/Hawthorne areas tonight! I am nervous about tomorrow, with the rainy weather... any pointers for driving in the rain and (hopefully) trying to avoid flooding areas?

Leave plenty of time to travel. Accidents are likely and will snarl traffic. Turn your lights on if you need to use your wipers at any time day or night. Drive slower and be cautious. If it is coming down so hard you cannot see where you are going pull off to the right shoulder and stop. Emergency flashers are good. Bring an umbrella and carry a cell phone. Don't take chances. Turn on your radio (or TV before you leave the house) for traffic and weather reports.
If you see a big puddle watch the other cars to see how deep it gets. Go through if less than a foot and at walking speed-don't stir up too much water that could go into your air intake (very bad for the engine).

You also need to be careful that too much water doesn't get into your brakes. If you can't avoid going through deep water, make sure to pump the brakes slightly to get it out.
Did anyone see the Liquid Yellow MINI going through the flood?
Couldn't tell if it was an MC or S because it was an aerial shot.
(Can't remember what channel it was on.)
