We are starting up a MINI club up here in Portland and are interested in how you went about it? We don't seem to have the volume of MINI owners you do down in SoCal but we are every bit as energetic. Any information you have about setting up your club woudl be much appreciated. Below are just a few one of the PDX participants came up with:
***Do we need approval from MINI to start a club or do we just band together and setup meetings and dues? Is there a MINI Owners Club of America that provides local sanctioning of clubs (as was the case for my Miata club)? Do we just file an unincorporated/not for profit business entity with the state and use that as the official name for bank accounts (for dues and fees)?***

Tracy (CMINIGO) & I are co-organizers of the Oct. 6 Santa Paula Airport MINI Meet. We just put it together, posted the info on MCO, Roadfly.org, & MINI2's Message Boards. We are not affiliated with MINIUSA, are just private enthusiasts. We like the idea of a not-for-profit group of owners casually meeting in a variety of ways, such as caravans, road rallyes, ride & dines, etc.

I believe that there are some enthusiasts forming the "official" club to be called MINICCA (MINI Car Club of America). I will join that, too, as membership will likely mean more meets and discounts from participating aftermarket businesses. Good luck to you! jceviche has planned a San Diego Scenic Run Drive for Saturday, Dec. 7. It is a lovely motoring route in La Jolla & San Diego. I just got my pure silver and black MINI about 3 weeks ago, after an excruciatingly long wait. I love it! I would love to join SCMM but when I clicked on your name I wasn't able to send you a private email. I will be at the San Diego event on the 7th and I am very excited to meet other MINI owners and checkout all the cars.

Greetings fellow SoCal MINI Maniacs!

I hope every one is doing well and wish you all the best this holiday season. As I'm sure you know, this time of year is particularly busy for people. That's why there are no major SCMM events planned for December/January yet since the San DIego drive (sorry I missed it!). I haven't fallen asleep at the wheel, don't worry. I am working on planning MANY fun-filled SCMM drives and meets. If anyone has particular driving routes they'd like the group to try out, send me a private message or e-mail and let me know the details.

Clover and I are going to be setting up local meets in different areas that will meet on a monthly basis (San Diego group, Orange County group, LA County group, Ventura County group, and others). We're also open to suggestions and will be looking to find group leaders in each area to help us out.

I'll send out a message about upcoming events to the SCMM members as soon as possible. So, stay tuned! If you haven't already joined the SoCal MINI Maniacs group and would like to, please click on my user name and send me a private message with you e-mail address.

Hey everyone! Happy New Year (almost)!

I've been working like crazy on designing and building http://www.scmm.org. I hope to have the site up by the end of January. Thanks to Mark Ferguson for helping out with domain registration and hosting. He'll also be helping to add great user-friendly features to our upcoming site. Stay tuned... there's a lot in store for MINIacs in 2003!
